Thomas R. Bensinger Sr, CTRC USN, 1960-1980 My brother was a ham at age 14... he got his ticket in 1954 and set up his ham site in our basement. He would sit for hours and call 'CQ CQ CQ'.... During his down time he would teach me some of the easy letters in code, like E, T, S, O, M, I and so on also his call sign and a few numbers. While at Great Lakes boot camp, our company had to attend several classes each day and one of them was a class on morse code. It just so happened that the letters we were given for the test was many of the same letters/numbers my brother taught me when I was 12 yrs old and I jumped right on it. After the test, the instructor came up to me and said "We want you for CT school".... and there you go. The rest is history. I'm now a Retired CTRC with a ham license and call sign is KB8JHY and very active on 40 meters. Tom Bensinger, CTRC USN, 1960 - 1980
