David L. Compton, CTTC USN 1967-1987 I graduated for a small high school in Waynesville, Missouri in May of 1966 and enlisted in the Navy on a delayed entry in February of 1967. I entered boot camp in Great Lakes, Ill in June of 1967 and reported to NCTC Pensacola, Fl in August/September of 1967. After NCTC I received orders to Adak, Alaska as a CTR. After several weeks of morse code refresher I was assigned to HFDF as a narrow band operator and eventually moved to wideband DF prior to my assignment in San Vito, Italy after Adak and 6 weeks of schooling in Pensacola, Fl again. During my tour in San Vito I converted to from "R" to "T" branch when the Navy found they had an excessive number of "R" branchers and needed to trim a few. From San Vito I went to Northwest, VA; Rota, Spain; school in Winter Harbor, ME; Diego Garcia; Edzell, Scotland and Winter Harbor, ME where I retired in 1987 as a CTTC. Between Spain and Diego Garcia I attended school in Winter Harbor and moved from HFDF to Classic Wizard.
