NCVA Cryptologic Command Display
The Navy Cryptologic Veterans Association (NCVA) Cryptologic Command Display
(CCD) is located in building 503, onboard Corry Station, in Pensacola, FL. The front
entrance (Pic 1) is located on Thompson Ave., between 2nd and 3rd Streets. Attached to
the outside wall are plaques commemorating the On the Roof Gang (OTRG), Kamiseya
fire, and the 1st Radio Battalion, USMC (Pictures 2-4).
Inside the CCD are three areas devoted to the history of the Naval Cryptologic world.
The main display area (Pictures 5-12), depict a portion of the displays available covering
pre WWII till the decommissioning of the Naval Security Group. The second area
contains reference material and donated library books (Pictures 13-14), plus some site
pictures and class caricatures. Between these two areas is a passageway containing two
display cases showing coffee mugs, lighters and challenge coins from the various duty
stations (Pictures 15-16). This area is also the entrance to the NCVA Ship’s Store which
sells shirts, hats, history books, etc (Pictures 17-18) in the CCD, and via the website
(USNCVA.ORG).
The CCD is staffed by volunteers and is usually open Monday – Friday (except holidays)
from 0830 – 1600. Volunteers are usually available during the morning hours but if you
or a group are in the area it’s better to call ahead (850)452-6990 and make arrangements
for a tour.
