Some background: Jim Newman (then LT) was the commissioning Outboard officer, and CTTC (SS) Denny Foster was the leading Chief. Outboard
was installed circa 1980 and the two photos (marked 1982) are those from his cruise. I relieved Jim in July 1983 and the photos marked 1984 are
my cruise. Scott Hendren relieved me in 1985.
Notes for the 1982 photos: As mentioned above, Jim was the commissioning DivOff, and continued on retiring as a Captain with 40 years service.
LTjg Middleton was not a cryptologist, he was surface line assigned as EWO, since the Outboard Division included both EWs and CTs.
EWC Seaman made EWCS on board and went on to retire as EWCM at COMNAVSURFPAC (Force EW Chief). CTO2 Schuster’s first name
was Barry, "Snake" was a nickname. JOSN Simpson was attached to the Division because Jim volunteered to be cruise book editor, and Simpson
was his assistant. CTRSN Ross was TAD to the division for the cruise.
