Howard Dahill, CTR3 USN, 1966-1970 In 1966 my birth date came up number 2 in the draft lottery. I decided that I had better join the Navy instead of getting drafted and going straight to Viet Nam. The recruiter talked me into signing up as an HM (corpsman). When I got home my father shared his thoughts with me about what a corpsman does and that there would be a very good chance of going directly to Nam because that is where all of the action was for corpsmen. Upon arrival to bootcamp I told them that I didn't want to be a corpsman and as luck would have it I had done well on the morse code section of the boot camp tests. They told me that I was going to CT school but didn't know exactly what CT's did. Howie
