John W. Mann, CWO4 USNR Retired, 1960-1994 In Great Lakes in 1960, taking tests at all hours until I needed toothpicks to keep open my eyes. Of course, I took the code test, I N T (at about 1 character a minute). I aced that test. Then comes the detailer. He told me that I had great scores, expect for mechanical (another story another time). He said that I could be a radioman. The only thing that I knew was how to find WKBW (one of the world's great rock and roll stations; listened to it in Bremerhaven). No to radioman. I could be a sonarman, think boop boop boop in the movies. No to sonarman. I could be a communications technician. Of course, the detailer knew nothing about CTs. So I said yes to CT. The rest is history. John CWO4 USNR(Ret)
