Background: Photo was taken in May of 1973, and the occasion was an awards ceremony held at NCS Philippines (San Miguel). Those pictured in the photo all received a Letter of Commendation from CTF75 (RADM J.S. Kern). We were all together on the USS Horne during the final days of the Vietnam War, operating in the Gulf of Tonkin. The Horne was there when the cease fire was announced, and remained on station as Primary Identification Radar Advisory Zone (PIRAZ, sometimes known as Red Crown) to support Operation Homecoming, the repatriation of the POWs from the Hanoi Hilton.
