Narrative from Don East:
No one likes to fly alone above the frigid wastes of the
Northern Norwegian Sea, so we often joined up with a
TU-aircraft to keep from flying alone. This photo is of a
TU-142 (Bear F, ASW aircraft).
This was in 1978, while I was OIC of VPU-1.

Soviet carrier in the 1977-1978 timeframe. Photo taken
from a VPU-1 aircraft when I was the OIC.
